"On Healthy Living" is based on the famous medieval Household Book of the Cerruti family and the Tacuinum sanitatis in medicina. The work shows how people in the 14th century thought about nutrition, plants, animals, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.
Particularly impressive are the 207 colored miniatures. They depict plants, food, crafts, and everyday scenes in exceptionally detailed medieval book illumination. The accompanying text explains the ideas and recommendations of the time.
The German edition was published in 1985 by BLV Verlagsgesellschaft and comprises 142 pages. This large-format book is suitable for lovers of historical books as well as those interested in the Middle Ages, cultural history, natural history, and ancient medicine.
